Joseph Chan – Class of 2025
Joseph Chan (24-A2) brought warmth, humor, and a sense of camaraderie to his EJ journey. Actively engaged in his CCAs, he built connections across year groups, celebrating victories and finding comfort in community alike. Joseph’s experience was defined by genuine friendships, teamwork, and a joyful presence that left an enduring sense of belonging.
“They say time flies when you’re having fun, and my two years in EJ have been a perfect reflection of that. Often jokingly called the “unc” of my different friend groups, I found it refreshing to build friendships across ages and connect with people from all walks of life. Being part of my dream CCAs made the experience even more meaningful, as I found myself in communities I genuinely enjoyed. In many ways, it felt like I got to relive my youth all over again.
Of course, the journey wasn’t without its challenges. Balancing my commitments was one of the toughest hurdles I faced, with moments in EJUT where I felt stuck or even close to burnout. But through it all, I was supported by incredibly driven teammates, as well as teachers and coaches who believed in me. Pushing through those setbacks made the eventual victory of standing on the podium with my teammates all the more meaningful - a core memory I will always hold close to my heart. At the same time, EJ Choir became a space of comfort and release for me. Despite being new to Choir, I was warmly welcomed into a supportive and encouraging environment, and those Friday sessions quickly became something I looked forward to each week.
More than anything, what I will treasure most is the sense of belonging I found, especially in my class, 24-A2. From sharing meals in the canteen to celebrating birthdays and simply spending time together around school, it was the little moments that meant the most. Being part of such a wholesome and inclusive group reminded me of the value of genuine friendship - something I know I will carry with me long after my time in EJ comes to an end.”
