Ms Candice Chua

I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Second Upper Honours) from the School of Art, Design and Media at Nanyang Technological University, majoring in Digital Animation before beginning my postgraduate studies with the National Institute of Education (NIE).

Before NIE, I had begun my teaching career with short stints at the secondary level, teaching Art and English. Thereafter I was posted to a junior college where I taught Art and Project Work. I then had the opportunity to work at the Ministry of Education, Arts Education Branch as an Arts Education Officer where i contributed to various curriculum and co-curriculum work pieces related to the arts, including the review and development of the A-level Art syllabus, organisation of Singapore Youth Festival events and overseeing MOE special programmes for schools. My experiences there have broadened my perspectives and affirmed my belief that a holistic education constitutes academic pursuits along with aesthetic endeavours.

I am largely curious and have an inclination towards the pursuit and appreciation of new knowledge and experiences. I enjoy reading, watching films and television, travelling and generally observing the world and people (and my dog). I have always believed that anything tried and experienced in life adds to the sum of one’s being, is never wasted and can be leveraged.

“If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.”
